So it’s that time of the year again. Spring Break!! I love this season because it is so full of renewal. Winter is behind us and spring is in full bloom—well especially down here in the South. Most importantly it is the time of year when me and my daughters go back home to NEW ORLEANS. We get a chance to reconnect with family, friends and places that bring us much needed comfort and joy. The haunting beauty of the city is evident everywhere and the love of culture and NOLA soul/essence is so big you can practically taste it. Did I say I love going home? I just want to be in the company and love of black folks. That’s NOLA baby. We are going to check out the Mardi Gras Indians, Soul Fest at Audubon Zoo, visit the New Orleans Museum of Art; the The George & Leah McKenna Museum of African American Art and party with a jazz band on one of the Mississippi River steamboats or paddleboats. And we are going to eat. OMG. My mouth is watering… Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde, Seafood stuffed mushrooms at Copeland’s uptown, alligator from Pontalba Cafe in Jackson Square, and the most delicious Eggplant Olivier at Olivier’s in the French Quarter. Thank God NOLA is a walking city and you can dance everywhere and anytime. We are going to need that exercise…
